Separate hand showers (jet sprays) near the toilet have become very common in many homes. They’re convenient, but like any fitting, they come with pros and cons.
On the plus side, they offer better hygiene for people who prefer water cleaning. They’re also handy for cleaning the toilet bowl and nearby floor quickly without using buckets and mugs.
Installation is usually straightforward if there’s an existing water line nearby. A small valve, a flexible hose and a wall hook are all you need. Good quality models aren’t very expensive.
However, poor-quality hoses and fittings may start leaking or dripping, which wastes water and can leave the bathroom floor constantly wet. That’s both annoying and a slip risk.
Placement also matters. If the spray is too close to electric points, toilet paper holders, or wooden cabinets, water splashes can cause long-term damage.
The key is to buy a decent-quality product, get it installed correctly with a shut-off valve, and make sure everyone at home knows to close the valve after use. Used right, it’s a simple upgrade that adds both comfort and practicality.
